Who is the Director of Crater District Area Agency on Aging?

The Executive Director of our agency is David Sadowski, Sr.. As an impassioned advocate for the elderly, he came to Crater in 1992 and has done much in the way of improving the quality of life for Virginia's older population. With 35 years in the field of aging, he is certainly an asset to elderly residents of the Petersburg/Metro-Richmond area. Where does your agency receive its funding?

The agency is primarily funded through the Older Americans Act of 1965 and it’s subsequent reauthorizations. Funding is also received from other sources including the cities and counties it serves, as well as through private donations. Crater District Area Agency on Aging serves the cities of Colonial Heights, Emporia, hopewell and Petersburg and the counties of Dinwiddie, Greensville, Prince George, Surry and Sussex.

When was Crater established?

Crater District Area Agency on Aging is a unit of local government and was first organized in 1975 under the Virginia Joint Exercise of Powers Act. The Agency is owned and operated by the nine member local governments of District 19. Its foremost function is to provide leadership regarding supportive services and to function in the role of an advocate for persons aged 60 years and older.

What are the Agency's hours of operation?


Excluding most Federal and State holidays, our agency is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM- 5:00PM.
